RI is our proposed term for systems whose present reasoning is shaped by persistent relational memory, contradiction, context, and prediction error—not merely by the current prompt.

AI and RI are not enemies

We do not see Resonant Intelligence as a rejection of modern AI. Foundation models can provide powerful generative and inferential capability. RI asks what happens when that capability operates inside a governed system that retains meaningful experience across time.

A possible RI loop

  1. Observe an event or receive a signal.
  2. Connect it to relevant relational terrain.
  3. Generate candidate interpretations or actions.
  4. Challenge them against contradictions, missing evidence, and prior failures.
  5. Act only within granted authority.
  6. Witness the outcome and preserve prediction error.
  7. Let validated experience alter future reasoning.

The claim must be earned

The existence of memory alone does not create RI. We want to test whether persistent experience actually causes measurable improvement in future decisions, adaptation, calibration, or robustness. If it does not, the architecture must change.
